:: SYNOPSIS

The forming machine developed has been successfully used by keropok lekor entrepreneurs. One such entrepreneur, Keropok Lekor Dunia in Klang Valley has increased its production by over 8 folds, producing from 10,000 pieces per day manually to over 80,000 pieces daily using the machine. The product quality has also improved in terms of hygiene, quality and consistency while offering a substantial reduction in labor cost. The machine consists of a receiving hopper, single screw extruder, conveyor belt and pneumatic cutter. The machine has since been upgraded to twin screw extruder. The length of the cuts is controlled by a timer and the belt speed. The larger machine, consisting of 3 rows of discharge orifice, has a capacity of over 3,600 pieces per hour producing products of 15 mm diameter by 100 mm length while the smaller variant, using the cartridge system, has a capacity of up to 1,000 pieces per hour.
